SSC CGL is an easy exam to crack, below are some good techniques. SSC CGL consists of Tier1, Tier2 and Interview.
Here I am not saying that buy this book then buy that book or cover gk from 6th to 10th standard then mug up lucent or blah blah, anyways you can do that if you have enough time, its your choice. Cracking SSC CGL is a very straight forward process and can be achieved easily with 2.5 hrs dedication daily in last 2 months if you are an average student. The most basic thing that student forget to do is analysis, please do analysis of your week areas and check what section is asked most in SSC CGL. When we solve a practice set from any book then we are much interested in calculating our marks but rarely we do analysis that what went wrong and what kind of questions we couldn't solve, focus in that and you will achieve success.
In tier1 there are 4 sections: Maths, Reasoning, English,GK (50 questions 50 marks for each subject: total duration 2 hours)
In Tier2 there are only 2 sectios: Maths and English (Maths: 100 questions 200 marks, English: 200 questions 200 marks: Total duration is 2 hours for each)
1) Always check last 3 years paper and its patters and get an idea and feel of the exam.
2) Always go with the Geometry, trigonometry and Algebra and work them out as hard as you can and then go for other topics as given in RS Agrawal but keep revising geometry, trigonometry and algebra all the time.
3) Reasoning section of the exam is very easy, go with RS Agrawal and prepare reasoning and then solve one/two sets of reasoning daily from Kiran publication book, it takes 30-35 mins to solves 2 sets of reasoning. Again here don's waste much time on reasoning since you can get 35-40 marks even without putting much efforts.
4) For GK go with Lucent and cover science. It is advisable that if you are good with GK then you can carry on, else you don't have to waste much time on GK. GK section in SSC is fact based, don't waste much time on making concepts for SSC GK.
5) For English please buy SP bakshi or perfect English and prepare all the topics. Please try to cover one word substitution, Idioms and Phrases and sentence correction because english is based on that in SSC CGL.
